KATZ JEANNE L.
Born April 14, 1948, to her parents, Paul and Geraldine Katz, two months premature, in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Taylor Allderdice High School, Ohio University, University of Pittsburgh, and Michigan State University. Jeanne served as a VISTA volunteer in Colorado, where she lived most of her adult life. The Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak captured her spirit. Jeanne earned her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). Her passion for counseling was best applied as a Hospice Bereavement Counselor. Jeanne qualified as an Integral Yoga Teacher and DRU yoga instructor. She taught yoga for special needs groups including seniors, chair yoga, cancer patients, behavior medicine clinics, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. She loved facilitating yoga and meditation retreats upholding inner peace for all. Jeanne was known as DayaMata amongst her yoga friends worldwide. She served as representative for Colorado/USA DRU and the World Peace Flame Project. Jeanne's kindest friends will remember her compassionate and caring nature and joyful prayer-filled spirit. Jeanne acknowledges the blessing received by her teachers and spiritual guides, Sri Swami Satchidonanda, Nischala Joy Devi, and Dr. Mansukh Patel. Jeanne appreciated the loving bond she shared with so many loyal friends worldwide. She was supported and nurtured by her loving, dedicated family. She is survived by her dearest mother, Gerry Katz Tanack (Elliott); devoted sister; Shelley Katz Rudkin (Steven); sister-in-law, Donna Katz; loving nephews, Jeremy and Scott Rudkin and Jason Katz; and dear cousins, Lester and Arlene Shapiro, and Steve and Brenda Port. Jeanne was predeceased by her grandparents, Nathan and Gussie Roth, Samuel and Jennie Katz; her father, Paul Katz; and brother, Stuart Katz. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to World Peace Flame Foundation, Postbus 51, 6666 ZH Heteren, The Netherlands, or to a charity of one's choice.

The family will receive friends at the Tree of Life Synagogue, 5898 Wilkins Ave., Pgh., PA 15217 on Wed. from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a Service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Pliskover Cemetery. Professional Services by D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, LTD., Lawrenceville.

I am so sad to hear that Jeanne Katz has died.  I did not know her well in highschool but I have lost the opportunity to connecet with her now that I'm back living in Colorado, where she spent a lot of her time.  Another person that will not be at our 50th reunion.  We are leaving too soon.

I knew Jeanne form Kindergarden, at H.B. Davis School,  until she died. Jeanne was always awarm , happy & plesant person.

Carol Speizer (Schapira)

I am so sad to hear this.  I remember her as very warm and friendly.  She seems to have had a wonderful life in Colorado.
