Most of our class probably didn't know Saul was a cousin of mine, through my father's side. I didn't know Saul very well and was sad to learn of his death several years ago. I felt very sad that I never really knew him and now, with more maturity, I never will.
If anyone can share stories about him, I'd like very much to hear them.
lois, saul was an avid baseball fan and every year took part in the celebration at forbes field's home plate to commemorate mazaroski's homerun in the world series. thanks on a dreary day for sparking that good memory.
Linda, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information about my cousin. Now everytime I take out my year book (I'm between cousins Saul and Howard Fineman) and look at his picture, I will have this image of him doing that. Thank you for taking the time to write and tell me.
I knew Saul quite well for some of the high school years. I remember vividly that he was deeply involved in volunteer activities in the community (somehow Red Cross comes to mind) at a time when many of us were more interested in looking at ourselves in the mirror. He was as I recall, a thoughtful man for others.
Thank you for telling me more about the cousin I really didn't know and now will never be able to. Sounds like he remained in Pittsburgh. His father was a very nice man, from what I recall my dad saying, so Saul followed in his path. If anyone knows when he died and exactly what happend, please let me know. I've wondered about him for many years.
Saul Finkelstein went to Penn State, and I helped him get into our fraternity. It wasn't long before Saul voluntarily took over the job of supervising the kitchen staff, a thankless, but important position he enthusiastically embraced and was excellent at doing. I am sorry I lost track of him after I finished school and left the Pittsburgh area.
Thank you for taking the time to share this information with me about my cousin, Saul. From what other classmates have said, it sounds like he remained in the Pittsburgh area after college. I think Saul was a mensch before most of us really understood the true meaning of that word. Thank you again for helping me know a little more about a cousin I knew almost nothing about.
