A California man was killed early Wednesday after three cars hit him as he tried to cross Interstate 4 near the Fairbanks Avenue exit, just north of downtown Orlando, said Lt. Floyd Baker, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman.
Baker said the man's vehicle broke down on the westbound side of the highway. The man was identified as Gregory Eugene Varzaly, 45, Redlands, Calif.

Greg was a good friend of mine. He was one of the students from Swisshelm Park. We spent a lot of time going to the local dances on the weekends. He lived just donw the street from me for a while in the 70s.I still see his brother George occasionally.

I met Greg when we worked together at the Forum Theater in Sq Hill. He was a great friend and I remember going to his home for a graduation party. I always wondered what happened to him and was shocked to read this. Very sad.
